Home for the Holidays!

Me and my dolls wish all of you and your dolls a very warm and wonderful Merry Christmas!!!

This year, I was determined to get every last doll in the house dressed for the holidays. This was no small feat. And since they are all decked out in their finest, they insisted on being photographed throughout the house! (Special thanks to my father who puts up with my dolls invading most of the house during the holidays.)

My bedroom is ground zero for all operations. The dolls all want to be downstairs on the piano, but there simply is not enough room AND.....SOMEBODY'S got to keep me company!!!! (Still on Christmas and New Year's Eve, they sneak downstairs to the livingroom.) I have two doll size Christmas trees, one on each nightstand. Each one is decorated with mini-ornaments, tiny angels. The one nearest the side where I sleep, also are decorated with my late mother's costume jewelry.

On my nightstand:

On the other nightstand:

High above, on my chest of drawers:
They are dressed and waiting for Saturday night's Black & White Ball downstairs on the piano!

Next door in the guest room:
These dolls have their own party on New Years. This year, I had enough clothes for everybody to be better dressed than in previous years.

On the nightstand:
Yes, another tiny tree, covered with tiny toys.

Out in the hallway:
A few of my mom's dolls under a slightly bigger Christmas tree.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the dining room:
They mix in with old family photos on the buffet cabinet.
I took the idea from the Doll Conventions and created my own "centerpiece." Of course, once the food arrives, dollies must get out of the way!!!!!

Everybody to the living room!
These three dolls at the foot of the tree, are part of a large doll collection of my late mother. They stay in the living room year round.

On one of the cocktail tables, I've put the dollar store and "homeless" dollies (who insisted on being part of the action this year.) Inclusion is a good thing!

And of course, there is the piano. My dolls' "stage" where they come to model all throughout the year!

And here we are, back upstairs, in my room, atop my dresser drawers. Nice work, girls!!!

  1. Wow, what colossal work! Your dolls are very well dressed and your arrangements are beautiful. I guess it helps that you don't have a hunter cat (the photo with portraits, flowers and trinkets makes me shudder - the nut and globe would be under the bathtub before I could focus the camera). Do you lug your dolls back and forth when you travel or do you have some doubles? Either way, it's impressive. Happy Holidays!

    1. Thank you BlackKitty. And yes, this was a mammoth task, putting it all together. (I've been working solidly for 3 weeks!) Every now and then, I stop and look around and am amazed how nearly every doll has an outfit inspired by a designer. I have doubles of one small set of dolls (the SIS BabyPhat Barbies) and then I travel with 2-4 other for diversity. If I can, I'll try to set up a post prior to leaving to earn a little extra time. Believe of or not, I do try to have a life as well and do things not doll related. I've had cats long before I had dolls, so I know what kind of mischief they can get into, especially when they're not happy about something. I shudder to think what might happen to the dolls and their itty bitty little shoes and trinkets!!! Happy Holidays to you as well!

  2. OOOOOOO!SO PRETTY! This felt so like a high fashion show in the Waldorf. I think Saks 5th Avenue in New York needs you to decorate their famous holiday window!

    1. Thank you sooooo much for the lovely compliment. I think Saks and Bergdorf Goodman have some pretty talented window dressers. Their Christmas windows are legendary! Even though it was a lot of work, I'm happy with the way everything turned out. Wishing you the best holidays ever.

There are no words to describe this great work and great effort that you put into decorating and home decor all the dolls!
I really like all! You had a great idea!
      Best wishes!
Thank you, Olla, for the lovely compliment. In past years, I've concentrated on the livingroom, but this year I decided to work on the dolls upstairs in the bedrooms as well. I'm pretty satisfied with the results. (But I am not sure how I top this next year!) Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you, Muff. Since I dressed them up all over the house, all the dolls add a dash of elegance everywhere I look. The dolls on the piano will turn from red and white to black and white for New Years, so I'm not finished yet!!!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, Jaye, this was an enormous amount of work. It took me three weeks right up until midnight Christmas morning to complete! But I'm really happy with the way every doll in the house is dressed for this holiday season. But, stay tuned. They all change out of their red and into black for their New Year's Ball!

    1. Ha ha ha ha!!!! This is a sensitive question for doll collectors. To the people outside of the doll community, there is an awful lot of dolls around my house. But to diehard collectors (especially those of you with dedicated doll rooms), what I have is a nice little collection. Altogether, there are about 100 or so, many of which are older playline Barbies I collected at the beginning of my collection. It also includes the male fashion dolls. Also included are some duplicates in Paris so I don't have to travel with too many. I use about 2/3 of them for this blog.

    3. Ha ha ha!! Well....I suppose that deep down, some of us are still afraid that the non dolly public will think us collectors are crazy for having a lot of dolls! LOL!!!!
